Learn to Weave A Paper Basket!
Free In-Person Demo
September 9/14 & 9/15, 2024
It's official, I'm a floral designer. Ok, ok, just kidding. I'm going to stick with making fun, woven paper sculptures for now. Things like this sweet little upcycled, woven paper basket.
The reason I'm sharing it with you is because you can get an in-person demo of this very soon! When I open my studio to the public during the second weekend of September, you can learn to overlap and weave strips of paper to make your very own container that can hold all kinds of neat things. Florals or not.
I have one I use for earrings and small gifts my daughter has given me. Pencils, and zines are great for these smaller baskets, too.
I like how the paper material softens and warms up a space. This one is made out of a cereal box. ...maybe you can tell what kind we've been eating lately? lol.
Here are the demo deets so add it to your calendar now...
Weave a Paper Basket:
📆Sat 9/14 & Sun 9/15 2024
⏰11 am
💫Free
📌Location:
Arthouse
Studio #12 - Upstairs
1021 R Street, Sacramento, CA 95811
BTS of these pics: It's 103 degrees as I search my yard for something green because everything is really starting to look dried out at this point in the season. I realized that floral arranging is NOT easy. Floral designers make it look easy.
Like a minimal painting, every line counts. I'm happy with my basic arrangement but it's too hot and I wish I were practiced enough to be stoked about it.
Greenery in this floral arrangement: heavenly bamboo, pine fern (podocarpus) and pink breath of heaven sunset gold (coleonema).
✨ALSO: Studio Open All Weekend:
Sat. 9/14, 10 am - 8 pm
Sun. 9/15, 10 am - 5 pm
In addition to the demo, you can join in the fun giveaway raffle that I’ll do, and participate in an art activity in the studio. It’s going to be a really fun weekend. I’m looking forward to seeing you there!
🎨That Saturday, 9/14/24 form 5-8 pm is also the opening reception for Jennifer Lugris’ solo exhibition that will be on view in the main gallery. I share this because as the curator, I got to work with Jennifer to bring this show to the Arthouse gallery. This series is all about caregiving and parenthood. I think you’ll love seeing it.
Ten artist studios in total will also be open and free for the public to visit during this weekend gathering.
